How do I join?

Becoming a member of Harbord Diggers Toastmasters is easy and affordable. It's free to visit and to learn about what we do, meet our members and see if the club culture is the right fit for you.

How do I join?

When you are ready to join, there is a simple membership form to complete and membership fees to pay. As we are a membership club and part of Toastmasters International, there is also a requirement to formally vote you in by your fellow club members.

“The unprepared speaker has the right to be afraid”

“Understanding comes through communication, and through communication we find the way to peace”

What happens when I join?

We’ll give you all the information you need about the various roles that make up a club meeting, access to the Toastmasters training program – Pathways – and you will be assigned a personal club mentor. Your mentor will be an experienced Toastmaster and they will be there to answer any questions you may have and support you through the first six months of your Toastmaster journey.

How does my learning begin?

New members typically start with short roles (or ‘assignments’ as we call them in Toastmasters), such as a toast or welcoming members to a meeting and gradually build up to longer, more complex roles. Within a few months you’ll find yourself making your first speech. Of course, Toastmasters is a self paced environment, you can choose to move faster through the process by taking on more roles and speeches or work at a slower pace if that suits you best.

“We learn best in moments of enjoyment”

Q & A

We meet twice a month, on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday at 7pm.

We recommend that you do make contact before attending

Visitors are under no obligation to speak at club meetings.

You don’t need any special equipment, just come as you are.

It is free to visit our club, and you are welcome to visit a few times before you decide to join. When you decide to join there is a one-time joining fee to Toastmasters International and then the club members fees. At Harbord Diggers the one-off joining fee is $50 and then monthly fees are $14 (paid 6 monthly)

Put simply we have brilliant members! We all have a similar end-goal and a genuine interest in helping you on your Toastmasters journey. All this combined with a positive atmosphere and a great location at the Harbord Diggers make it the best environment to develop and enhance your communication and leadership journey.

As we are a sub-club of Harbord Diggers Mounties and meet on site at the beautiful Harbord Diggers Club, all members need to join the mounties club - it’s inexpensive to join with fees from as little as $10 for 5 years which also gives sizeable discounts on beverages and food purchases.

Toastmasters is a non-profit organisation and each club is run by its members. Most of the membership fees are redirected to Toastmasters International, a small amount is kept by the club to pay for materials, events and any other items needed to run the club.

New members are assigned an experienced member to act as their mentor. Your mentor will use their own Toastmasters experience to guide you through your journey. They will assist by helping you to set goals, giving you guidance on meeting roles, coaching you through your initial speeches or just generally sharing their knowledge and insight.
